The BIG BOY! |

zzzzzzzzzzzzz |
We transitioned Will into a big boy bed last night, and it could not have gone more smoothly. He hasn't been sleeping well in his crib and we noticed that if he had room to stretch out, like in our bed, he slept far more soundly and for much longer. And the light bulb went off! We didn't get him down until 10 last night because it took awhile to assemble everything and then Will was just a little hyper with excitement about everything...but then he didn't move a muscle/make a sound until 7 this morning when he stirred just a bit and Marty re-settled him, and *then* he kept sleeping until after 10:00 -- so late that I finally just had to go in and wake him up at 10:15 because I didn't want him sleeping until noon!!!
I think the big boy bed is a big boy SUCCESS! Hooray!

I LOVE the Big Boy Bed!! I was so excited about getting it for Will - it was as if I had bought something really cool for myself! Also, it's so hard knowing when to make big transitions as a parent - so it's AWESOME when your babies tell you what you need to do, just like Will did!He didn't like sleeping in his crib anymore, and he found a way to let us know it! Way to go, Will!! I have to say, though, it does bring a mommy and daddy to tears to have to put away their baby's crib. We love you Will-Pup!!
Oh my!!! That picture of Will on his big boy bed in his pj's!!! I love it!
It's so hard when they want to grow up....yet you feel so proud of them when they do.
Cute room, by the way! Love those prints on the walls!
Take care!

YAY! Isn't it so fun! :) Nells moved to her big girl bed around Christmas and then to her "big, big girl bed" last month. (We moved her to a queen that will double as a guest bed!) She's even without railings now. *tear* :) I love his room with the cute car photos too. I have no doubt Mr. Will loves it too! :)
How precious is his little face?! So excited! And I second the comments about his room - so well done! I can just imagine him looking up at his cars as he drifts off to sleep. :) -Katie
@Marty: Well said, my love.
@Angie: I can tell you how to very easily make prints just like them for super-cheap (if you're interested!). Thanks for the compliments!
@Emily: I'm soooooooooo not ready for Will to be without railings, even when *he's* ready. In my mind he needs to be a baby for just a little while longer...
@Katie: He loves the prints, and he'll say, "Mama -- cahs" in this reverential sounding voice, like cars are the most amazing things in the world. I love it!
I'm seriously kicking around the idea of taking the front off Anna's crib. She has one of those neat ones that converts to a full-size bed. Now that would be overwhelming for her/me, but there's a neat option to take off the front and replace it with this sort of mini-rail, so it's a day bed with an integrated rail (http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1c06aa9&DeptID=70676&CatID=77448&SO=0&Ne=5+18+904+949+833&NOffset=2&N=4294940794&sissr=1&Nao=0&PSO=0&bcCat=3&cmAMS_T=XGN3&cmAMS_C=MERCHA&cmAMS_Z=XGN3TOPOFRESULTS&CmCatId=EXTERNAL|77448) Kind of hard to explain. What do you think?
Kristen: I've seen one of those beds in action, and the toddler/preschooler who used it did very well in it (also a girl!). She was a mobile youngster and wanted in and out of bed, but her parents weren't quite ready to graduate her to a full-on bed. I think it's a good option!
I love it, especially the way you did the prints on the wall. Looks like he like it too :)
